Addiction Treatment for Residents of Syracuse, NY

syracuse-ny-ttc-city-page.jpgSyracuse, located in Onondaga County, New York, has the fifth largest population of all cities in the state. It is also home to over 20,000 Syracuse University students. In this largely urban city, alcohol as well as illegal and prescription drugs are abused by residents young and old.

As a result, rates of heroin-related overdose deaths and substance abuse admissions are high. Although addiction can seem like a never-ending cycle, recovery is possible at The Treatment Center.

Contact our admissions counselors today at (315) 207-4037 to discover how we can help teens and adults recover from substance abuse. We are available to take your call 24 hours a day.

Personalized Treatment Plans

Addiction doesn’t affect any two patients exactly the same way. That is why we tailor our treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient at The Treatment Center.

At our Joint Commission-accredited addiction treatment center, we offer the following therapies, services and programs:

  • Medically supervised detox
  • One-on-one counseling
  • Group therapy
  • Dual diagnosis treatment
  • Christian addiction counseling
  • 12-step programs
  • Court Liaison Program
  • Relapse prevention
  • Holistic pain management (e.g. acupuncture and massage therapy)
  • Intensive outpatient program (IOP)
  • Aftercare services

Our board-certified doctors, licensed therapists, and registered nurses work together to provide every patient with high quality care.

Many treatment centers in the Syracuse area treat teens and adults using the same methods. However, adolescent substance abuse treatment is more effective when their unique circumstances are taken into account. That is why The Treatment Center also offers specialized treatment for teens at a separate facility.

Additionally, we offer effective treatment for co-occurring disorders, which is sometimes called dual diagnosis. This means that we specialize in treating mental illnesses, such as depression, and addiction at the same time.

For more information about our treatment plans, contact us today at (315) 207-4037. Our admissions counselors are available 24/7 to answer any questions you may have.

Commonly Abused Drugs in Syracuse

In New York, the average number of individuals that need addiction treatment but don’t receive it is higher than the average for the U.S., according to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH).

Below are some of the most commonly abused substances among patients at drug rehabs in New York:

Alcohol - Alcohol was the second most abused substance among patients at rehab centers in the state of New York in 2012, according to the Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS). The TEDS also shows that most New Yorkers who went to treatment in 2012 went because they were abusing alcohol along with one or more other drugs

Prescription drugs - Between 2008 and 2012, New Yorkers filled over two million prescriptions for hydrocodone and oxycodone, according to the Mayor’s Task Force on Prescription Painkiller Abuse. From 2007 to 2012, treatment admissions for prescription painkillers tripled in new York.

Heroin - From 2009 to 2013, heroin overdoses rose by 500 percent in Onondaga County. Syracuse’s needle exchange program also saw a drastic increase in people seeking clean needles in the span of three years. In 2011, only 16 people picked up clean needles, and by 2014 that number increased to 753 people.

Molly - A crystalline or powdered form of MDMA, the main ingredient in the drug ecstasy, has gained popularity among college students in Syracuse. It is marketed by dealers as "pure," but its contents are just as questionable as pressed ecstasy pills. Oftentimes, dealers mix MDMA with other substances, such as caffeine, meth, heroin or synthetic drugs like bath salts. These chemical cocktails can be very dangerous and even life threatening.

In addition to the substances mentioned above, New York treatment centers are also treating patients for cocaine, inhalant, and methamphetamine abuse.
