Florence is a small town in Northern Kentucky located in eastern Boone County. With a population of just under 30,000, residents of Florence are vulnerable to drug traffickers who peddle illicit drugs in and out of small towns.

In Florence and surrounding Boone County, the region has had such an increase in prescription opioid painkiller abuse, heroin use, and drug-related crimes and death, that  the Heroin Task Force was created in June 2013 to try to limit use.

To find out more about our accredited rehab facility, call us today at (859)-449-4659. We are here to help you throughout the recovery process. Our admissions counselors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even on holidays.

Drug Abuse in Florence

The North Kentucky Drug Strike Force reported that there were 53 arrests for heroin possession in 2008, which spiked to 312 arrests in 2012, and that number continues to rise today. In August of 2013, the Florence Police Department reported 96 heroin-related overdose deaths.

Overdose deaths from prescription drugs are also on the rise. It’s estimated that in the first quarter of 2013, in Boone County, there were 670,236 doses of Oxycodone doled out, which is about 5.6 doses for every resident in Boone County.

Substance abuse and drug trafficking continue to be a problem in Florence, and surrounding Boone County. However, special drug task forces are working overtime to cut down on drug abuse and drug-related crimes.
