Drugs That are Abused in Cincinnati

Some of the most common drugs that are abused in Cincinnati include crack cocaine, Ecstasy, heroin, marijuana and prescription drugs.

Crack cocaine is one of the most prevalent drugs in the Cincinnati region. It is commonly used in combination with heroin, marijuana and prescription drugs.

Another drug that is often seen on Cincinnati streets is Ecstasy. Typically, Ecstasy is used by younger adults between the ages of 19-35. Treatment facilities in the Cincinnati region have reported that the availability of Ecstasy has increased.

Heroin use is also on the rise in Cincinnati, especially brown powdered heroin. According to medical professionals, heroin use often begins after an individual has become dependent on prescription opioids.

Marijuana is one of the most commonly abused drugs in the Cincinnati region. Oftentimes, the drug is used in combination with powdered and crack cocaine.

Cincinnati has not been immune to the prescription drug abuse epidemic that is affecting the nation. Prescription painkillers such as Percocet, Vicodin, Roxicodone and Opana are frequently abuse by residents. Not only are drug users obtaining prescription painkillers on the streets, but they are also doctor shopping, stealing prescription note pads and traveling to out-of-state pain clinics to receive them. In addition, Cincinnati residents are abusing prescription sedatives including Valium, Xanax and Klonopin. While they are not as easy to obtain as painkillers and sedatives, abuse of prescription stimulants is common in the community. Addiction professionals have reported that residents are frequently abusing Adderall and Ritalin.
