Socially Isolated Rats Vulnerable to Drug and Alcohol Addiction

Drug Rehab Center News : 1-29-2013 : According to researchers at The University of Texas, rats that are socially isolated during adolescence are more vulnerable to drug and alcohol addiction, especially addiction to amphetamines, than rats with normal social interaction. Researchers found that the addictions were also harder to extinguish in the rats that experienced social isolation in spite of identical efforts at drug and alcohol addiction treatment.
