The Treatment Center Supports Fern House “Bridging the Gap” Expansion Campaign
As a means of Sharing Our Hope, The Treatment Center has stepped forward as the Grand Sponsor of the Fern House Bridging the Gap Campaign. It all began in April of 2011, when The Treatment Center attended the Fern House annual brunch at the Palm Beach Yacht Club. At the brunch, our CEO Bill Russell heard many accounts of the great success of the Fern house program. Judge Mary Lupo, a long time resident of the Florida Circuit Court bench in the Criminal division, gave a heartfelt call for the Fern House to “think big” as it moves forward in its planning. Judge Lupo, as well as many others who see the problem of addiction first hand, rely on Fern House as a place of real hope for the hardest, most seemingly hopeless cases.
After the brunch, Bill Russell spoke to Clancy Cebula, the 2011 resident house manager. Bill wanted to understand the needs of Fern House in order to offer the most effective assistance possible. Mr. Cebula shared their need for an intensive transitional living facility to extend the current 6 month program. The expansion Fern House envisions will provide long term support as the men learn to care for themselves in a home-like environment. They will master job and life skills and become capable of contributing to society. With this goal in mind, a team was assembled to make this Fern House vision a reality. A property was selected and financial needs were assessed.
One year later, On April 14th 2012 at the Annual Yacht Club brunch, Fern House announced the Bridging the Gap campaign. Bridging the Gap is an 18 month capital campaign to fund the development of a new intensive transitional living facility in Palm Beach County. At the brunch, over $200,000 was pledged toward the project. The Treatment Center of the Palm Beaches is proud to be the Grand Sponsor of the Bridging the Gap Campaign. We have pledged $100,000 toward the campaign goal as well as providing in kind contributions of time and manpower to support the Campaign.
In May 2012, Fern House purchased an 18 unit apartment complex on Haverhill Rd. in Lantana, FL which will house 36 men. It is currently under renovation. We invite you to participate with us in supporting this worthwhile cause. From financial contribution to corporate sponsorship, hosting a fundraising dinner or volunteering time and services, there are many opportunities to make a difference in the lives of men in substance abuse recovery. Please contact Bernard Willis, Fern House Executive Director, for more information. Working together, we will Bridge the Gap.
